AI Lattice LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the SipSure mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
When you create an account and use SipSure, we collect information you voluntarily provide, including:
- Account Information: Email address, display name, and authentication credentials managed through Firebase Authentication.
- Profile Information: Your self-reported experience level with wine and spirits (e.g., "curious beginner," "casual enthusiast").
- Preference Data: Your beverage preferences, taste ratings, and feedback on recommendations. We use simple thumbs-up/thumbs-down ratings to understand your preferences.
- Scan History: Records of wine and spirits bottles you scan using the App's camera feature.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the App, we automatically collect certain information:
- Usage Analytics: Session data, feature usage patterns, and interactions within the App. All analytics are pseudonymous—we use randomly generated user identifiers rather than personal identifiers.
- Context Categories: When you use the App, we may record the general context (e.g., "store" or "restaurant") but we do not store your precise geographic location.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and performance optimization.
1.3 Information from Third Parties
If you sign in using Apple Sign In or Google Sign In, we receive basic profile information (name and email) as permitted by your privacy settings on those platforms.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide personalized wine and spirits recommendations based on your taste profile and preferences.
- Generate AI-powered explanations and descriptions for beverages you scan.
- Improve and optimize the App's features and user experience.
- Process transactions and manage your subscription or per-occasion purchases.
- Communicate with you about updates, features, and support inquiries.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues.
3. Analytics and Performance Monitoring
We use analytics services to understand how users interact with the App and to improve our service. Our analytics practices are designed with privacy in mind:
- Pseudonymous Tracking: Analytics events are associated with pseudonymous user identifiers, not your personal information.
- No Precise Location: We store only general context categories (e.g., "restaurant"), never your exact GPS coordinates.
- Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics: We use Google Firebase for analytics and crash reporting. Firebase may collect device identifiers and usage data subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
4. Payments and Subscriptions
SipSure offers premium features through subscriptions and per-occasion passes.
4.1 Payment Processing
- App Store Payments: All purchases made through the iOS App Store are processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your credit card information.
- Google Play Payments: All purchases made through Google Play are processed by Google. We do not receive or store your credit card information.
4.2 Subscription Management
We use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management platform, to track purchase status and entitlements across devices. RevenueCat receives transaction information from Apple and Google to verify your subscription status. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.
5. Third-Party Services
We integrate with the following third-party services to provide and improve our App:
5.1 Affiliate Partners
Disclosure: We earn a commission when you purchase through our affiliate links. This does not affect the price you pay.
We partner with the following retailers to offer purchase options:
- Saucey — Alcohol delivery service (via Awin/DMi Partners network)
- Firstleaf — Wine subscription service (via Impact network)
- Wine.com — Online wine retailer (via Rakuten network)
- Flaviar — Spirits subscription service (via Impact network)
- Plonk — Wine club (via Awin network)
When you click an affiliate link, we track the click using a pseudonymous tracking ID for attribution purposes. We do not share your personal information with affiliate partners; however, when you visit their websites, their own privacy policies apply.
5.2 Infrastructure and Services
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, real-time database, analytics, and crash reporting.
- Google Cloud Platform: Cloud infrastructure and AI services (Gemini) for beverage analysis and recommendations.
- RevenueCat: Subscription and purchase management.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Our data retention practices:
- Account Data: Retained while your account remains active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
- Raw Analytics Data: Retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted.
- Aggregated Analytics: Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for up to 2 years for product improvement purposes.
7. Your Rights and Choices
7.1 All Users
- Access: You may request a copy of your personal data by contacting us.
- Correction: You may update your profile information directly in the App.
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting support@sipsure.app.
7.2 California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to Know: You have the right to request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
- Right to Delete: You have the right to request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.
- No Sale of Personal Information: We do not sell your personal information as defined under the CCPA.
7.3 European Users (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Legal Basis: We process your data based on: (a) your consent; (b) performance of our contract with you; (c) our legitimate interests; or (d) compliance with legal obligations.
- Data Portability: You have the right to receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to Object: You may object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, secure authentication via Firebase, access controls, and regular security assessments. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
9. Children's Privacy
SipSure is not intended for users under 21 years of age in the United States or under the legal drinking age in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a minor, we will delete that information promptly.
10. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers, including standard contractual clauses where applicable.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
